Breaker

Role: Founding designer
Timeline: August 2017 – January 2021
About Breaker
We love podcasts and think it should be easier to share them with your friends. With the Breaker app and website you can see what your friends are listening to, tap a heart to “like” an episode, send it to a friend, and join in the comments. You can also see the top episodes the entire Breaker community is liking and listening to right now. It’s everything a modern-day podcast app should be.

Breaker was available on iOS, Android, and on the web. It was designed in Figma, and implemented in Swift, Kotlin, and React on the frontend, and Ruby on the backend.

Breaker was acquired by Twitter in Jan 2021.
My Contributions
As Head of Design and founding team member I provided a creative vision for the whole company. I established processes and practices for realizing that vision, and set the bar for quality. I was responsible for all designs and the development of user experience frameworks, and ensure that those are appropriately interpreted through the team’s work.

I owned and lead the end-to-end design processes. I collaborated with team members from the earliest stages of development through to shipping the product, making conscious tradeoffs driven by data and user research.

I was also actively involved in defining the strategy for the company, as a key contributor to defining success metrics, roadmap, and sprint commitments.
