Expressen

Role: Software engineer
Timeline: July 2016 – August 2017
About
Expressen AB is a major Swedish media company that owns and operates Expressen, one of the largest daily newspapers in Sweden. It has a strong online presence, with a comprehensive digital platform that includes a website and mobile applications. These digital channels provide readers with real-time news updates, multimedia content, and interactive features.
My Contributions
I was a software engineer on a small team of people responsible for building Expressen’s mobile applications for iOS and Android. This was an agile team, with a heavy focus on continuous product improvement, growth, and daily deploys.

I was responsible for the development of new features and solutions for mobile. I worked primarily in JavaScript, both client-side and server-side, using Node.js.

Beyond working on my team, I collaborated with people across the organization, from other tech departments to journalists.
Project - Min Feed
Software Engineer, backend and frontend
One project I worked on was a personalized sports feed for SportExpressen, called “Min Feed” (translates to My feed). With "Min Feed" you can follow your favorite sports teams and get a feed with the latest news. This project was a fun collaboration together with sports journalists and I presented it for a group of women during the Women In Tech conference in Stockholm.
